Today - more than 20,000 pesticides are
registered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
resulting in a multi-billion-dollar industry
in the United States alone!!!

Also posted on the EWG website is the following FACT during studies performed:
Approximately 200 chemicals were found in Newborns!
Our Babies - Our Children
Are being exposed while still in the womb
through food & household/body products
to countless toxins that will have life long effects!
How many & which pesticides are used IN OUR SCHOOLS?
And what effects are they having on our our children?

My favorite book on poisonous toxins is this:
Find it for sale on Amazon.com or at your local book store.
I first read it when I checked it out from the library.
Then I bought it!!!
This chart & the following information is directly from the EWG website:
On the left: Dirty Dozen - Highest in pesticides - definitely buy these organic!
On the right: Clean 15 - Lowest in pesticides... Not quite as bad as the dirty dozen.
700 different apples were tested, & 98% of them were laden with pesticides!
Celery (non-organic) has 67 pesticides!
What exactly does "ORGANIC" mean?
“Organic” is a designation used by the
USDA National Organic Program
to certify food that is produced without
synthetic chemicals
fertilizers,
genetic engineering
(GMO - genetically modified foods are not the same thing as grafting, like the olive tree in Jacob 5!)
radiation
sewage sludge

Yes... This does happen to our food.
NOTE: If you purchase organic, there is not a 100% guarantee that it is truly 100% organic. All organic labels are not created equally. BUT... You'll definitely be getting a better quality & more natural product than conventional foods.
Even better is to purchase local natural foods from sustainable farms which practice ethical farming/raising methods free of harmful chemicals, hormones, antibiotics, toxic fertilizers, GMO, & other harmful substances. Farms where animals are raised & treated humanely - on their natural habitat & fed their own natural organic diet - (open range / free range / un-confined). THIS is mother nature's gift at her best :)
It's expensive to have foods and products formally certified & labeled 100% organic. So often small companies are unable to do it. So what do you do? Know their practices. Ask questions. If they're free of the above dangers & practice humane & natural raising, then you're good to go! :)
Why should you be concerned about pesticides?
Pesticides are toxic by design! They are created expressly to kill living organisms.MANY pesticides pose health dangers to people. These risks have been established by independent research scientists and physicians across the world.
As acknowledged by U.S. and international government agencies (BUT THEY DO NOTHING ABOUT IT.) - pesticides have been linked to a variety of health problems, including but not limited to:
- brain and nervous system toxicity
- cancer
- hormone disruption
- skin, eye and lung irritation
***Keep this in mind***
Unless you are growing organic gardens
(using only organic compost & organic seeds)
WITHOUT the use of commercial fertilizers & pesticides, & weed killers...
YOU ARE PUTTING THESE TOXINS DIRECTLY INTO YOUR FAMILY'S BODIES!

We've been indoctrinated by the big wigs of the industrial revolution. They glorify these items by means of
colorful persuasive advertisements.

John A. Widtsoe - "The Word Of Wisdom - A Modern Interpretation"
published in 1950:
published in 1950:
"If these substances are abolished by man, how can the large numbers of people who will be thrown out of employment be cared for? The most obvious answer is that moral evil is NEVER justified by economic good. It may also be answered that the money now expended for these injurious substances would more than care for the unemployed in a state of idleness."

Here are just a FEW toxic things we have to deal with every day. This
list is SMALL. And we wonder why we have so many medical "conditions"
these days, ALSO caused by our beloved Standard American Diet (SAD).
This SHORT list is from Immune Healthy Solutions For You
- Auto Exhaust (benzene, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde)
- VOC's or Volatile Organic Compounds (paints, strippers, adhesives, cleaning products)
- Mercury - heavy metal, poison to your nervous system (fish, some vaccines, pesticides on produce, emitted by coal plants, trash incinerators)
- Cadmium (batteries, plastics, insecticides)
- Lead (paint, dust, soil, water, old pipes, older homes built before 1978)
- Aluminum (anti-perspirants, some cookware, antacids, skin creams, dandruff shampoo)
- Excitotoxins (food additives that over-stimulate the brain, Aspartame, saccharin, hydrolyzed vegetable protein in processed foods/frozen dinners, MSG or Mono-Sodium Glutamate)
- Alcohol (overindulgence depletes protective glutathione and can lead to liver disease)
- Pesticides and Herbicides (used in growing food and in yard care)
- Carcinogens (Dioxin, radiation, asbestos, vinyl chloride to make plastics)
- Formaldehyde (preservative, used in toners, paints, building materials)
- Chlorine and Chloroform (released in a hot shower through the water)
- Acetaminophen (Non-Aspirin Pain reliever, reduces levels of protective antioxidant glutathione)
- Household Cleaners (acetone, benzenes)
- Radiation (microwave, X-Rays, Ultraviolet Radiation from sunlight)
- EMF's - Electro Magnetic Fields that damage nerve cells (cell phones, electric blankets, computers, TV screens)
- Perc or Perchloro-ethane (used as a solvent in dry cleaning)
- Acetone (automobile exhaust, industrial emissions)
- Aflatoxin (from moldy nuts)
- Aromatic hydrocarbons (fuel,solvents)
- Nitrosamines (smoked and cured foods, hot dogs, bologna, etc.)
- Benzopyrenes (fuel exhaust, barbecued foods)
- PFC's - Perfluorinated Chemicals (nonstick cookware, non-stain carpets)

And more specifically THIS link:
Be careful of products marked "organic" (particularly canned goods). We bought some vegetables labeled "organic" on the private label of a major supermarket chain. We used most of what we'd bought in that first batch before we realized that it also said "Product of China" on the can. Given the horror stories of what's coming out of China into the US food supply (both pets and humans), I have serious reservations about anything claiming "organic" from there. We have yet to receive a response from the supermarket chain explaining how they certified that the product was "organic."
ReplyDeleteI just posted the symbol that MUST be on certified organic foods from the United States. If it is a food that is imported from another country, as far as I'm concerned, you have to do your research. There is no guarantee. Make sure your organic foods have the official 100% USDA ORGANIC symbol, if you are worried about just how organic it really is. Many companies claim organic, but only SOME of the ingredients in the product are organic.
